Agreement between William Owen and William Cox
Know all men, That I, William Owen, am held unto William Cox in the sum of Four Hundred Dollars; for the payment of which I bind myself, my heirs, executors, and administrators, by these presents, signed and sealed by me, the 20th day of November, in the year of Christ eighteen hundred and thirty-six. The Condition of this obligation is, That, whereas the above-bound William Owen has this day bargained and sold unto the said William Cox the Lot No. 45 in the town of New Harmony in the state of Indiana; and received therefore, in payment, one hundred and eighty-six dollars, the reciept of which is hereby acknowledged, and also one promissory note, executed by the said William Cox, unto the said William Owen on Order, for fifty dollars, payable on or before the 20th day of November, 1837, bearing equal date herewith, and interest from the day: Now, if, after said Note is paid, and when requested so to do by the said William Cox, or his legal representatives, the said William Owen, his attorney or representatives, shall execute unto the said William Cox, his heirs and assigns forever, a good and sufficient warranty Deed, in fee simple, for said Lot No. 45, then his Obligation to be void, otherwise to remain in full force in Law.
In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand + seal this day + date first aforewritten[signed Wm. Owen, seal]

Memorandum. The front of this lot is to extend to 85 feet on Mr. Cox paying Five Dollars more.
